Middle East is a challenging region for many expatriates. It has its own set of customs and culture that not everyone can get used to. However, I have experienced some of the best moments of my life in the Middle East.


I was in the Middle East for much longer than I intended, but I love it here. The people are amazing and they are so welcoming and hospitable. There are many traditional things to take part in while you’re here such as coffee with dates, shisha with friends or just going to a hammam with family.


The jobs market was different than what I was used to back home but it was surprisingly easy to find something that suited me once I had done some research on what companies were hiring.

The Middle East is a volatile region. This instability makes it difficult for companies to plan long term.


I was working for a small startup in the Middle East that would rather not disclose their name and what they do, but I will say that it is a company providing B2B solutions to other companies.


One of the drawbacks of working in the Middle East is how easily people get frustrated and how quickly they escalate things when things go wrong, even if it's something like a power outage. This can lead to missed deadlines and unhappy customers.
